Ahoy there, matey. Just checking in to say that I am still here – and, like a celestial visitor from Luke’s Gospel, I come bearing tidings of great joy.
The real world of paid employment has been dominating proceedings of late, but that’s not to say I haven’t been doing some hardcore Nelson grafting in my spare time. In fact – and here are those glad tidings I mentioned earlier – I received a proof copy of my Nelson biography, Lamented Hero, just this week. (Visit my Instagram page (here) to see me ‘unboxing’ it, as the cool kids say.)
My mission with Lamented Hero has always been to tell the Nelson story to people who perhaps might not normally pick up a book on military history. The best way to appeal to this audience probably isn’t to have a book which, like mine, is 775 pages long…
My job between now and its release next spring is to whittle those pages numbers down a tad. Maybe to something more manageable, like 772.
